The "Martian" landscape is due to the quantity of magnesium and iron in the soil and rock formations in the area. The artist was told that the formation was akin to North African geology, meaning it was perhaps once part of the same continent. Through this information, the artist conceived the video, filming the landscape as a ball he was walking around, shortening the distance between continents and cultures.
